Hive Surveillance Program

New Queensland hive surveillance program.

Biosecurity Queensland is asking beekeepers to let them know when they’re checking their hives and what (if any) pests and diseases they come across.

If you suspect a notifiable pest, you must report it to Biosecurity Queensland on 13 25 23

To help protect Queensland’s valuable honey bee industry, report the health of your honey bee hives by clicking here.
Choose: Insects / Bees / Hive surveillance

Regular checks for established honey bee pests, such as American foulbrood, will assist Biosecurity Queensland to manage bee pests and diseases more effectively.

It is recommended hives should be examined every 4-6 weeks (during suitable weather), or at least twice a year in April and October.

If you suspect varroa mites, Tropilaelaps mites and Braula fly are present in your hives, report immediately to the Biosecurity Queensland Customer Service Centre on 13 25 23.
